This skills building and support group is designed for individuals with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and/or Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). Topics will include active vs. passive coping, pacing, and navigating medical care with EDS/JHS and related conditions. Each session includes presentation of educational content, a brief coping practice, and group discussion about the experience of living with these conditions. Participation in this group will provide an increased understanding of EDS/JHS and its connection to chronic pain and related symptoms, practical strategies for pacing activity to maintain an active lifestyle while avoiding symptom flare-ups, and opportunities to connect with others living with the same condition(s).
Experiential Exercises:
This group incorporates a variety of brief experiential practices to help participants understand and manage the challenges of living with EDS/JHS. Practices are brief (3-10 minutes) and may include body scans, guided imagery, and gentle yoga-based movement.
